Motivational Poem

MOTHER TO SON
Langston Hughes

Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
It’s had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor-
Bare.
But all the time
I’se been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So, boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps
‘Cause you find it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now-
For I’se still goin’, honey,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted

to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that

is why I succeed. – Michael Jordan

Most great people have attained their greatest success just one step beyond their greatest failures.

Motivation needed

In these times of constant struggle and strife, many of us have resigned ourselves
to lives of quiet desperation. Our spirit is broken, our hearts left
unfulfilled. We seek, far too often in vain, to locate any means of shelter from
the storm. But the most traumatic, self-defeating occurance is when the feeling
of isolation develops..Alone, we are powerless and the weight and burden of a
solitary existence is often too extreme to bear… Until now…. Please join and

Little Girl’s Poem

I received this poem sometime ago through e-mail. I am sure others have as well, but I still wanted to post

it here. It’s great to always be motivated and working and striving towards our goals. But sometimes, you’ll

find it’s good to just stop for a moment and enjoy life’s little things. They can re-energize you and maybe

guide your motivation in a different more beneficial direction.

This poem was written by a terminally ill young girl in a New York Hospital with 6 months to live.
It is quite the poem.
I believe this was originally passed on  by:

SLOW DANCE

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round?
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight?
Or gazed at the sun into the fading night?

You better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Do you run through each day On the fly?
When you ask How are you? Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You’d better slow down
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

Ever told your child,
We’ll do it tomorrow?
And in your haste,
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch,
Let a good friendship die
Cause you never had time
To call and say,’Hi’

You’d better slow down.
Don’t dance so fast.
Time is short.
The music won’t last.

When you run so fast to get somewhere
You miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
It is like an unopened gift….Thrown away.

Life is not a race.
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

Motivational Quotes

When you are doing what you love to do, no one has to motivate you.

Believe that good will come and the best is coming, and it will.

Everything you create or acquire begins in the form of desire.

Never mind what others didn’t do. It’s what you do that counts.

We become whatever we are comitted to.

It’s a sure thing that you’ll not finish if you don’t start.

The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel influences the way you act.

What happens outwardly in your life is not as important as what happens inside you.

Those who are quick to see their limitations generally are slow in seeing their opportunities.

Look at what appears to be impossible, then change your beliefs.

Live the life you imagined.

Time spent in good thought is never wasted.

What you have become is the result of what you have thought.

Is your time spent desiring or is your time spent taking steps toward desires?

Know that you and you alone are responsible for the imbalance between what you dream your

life is meant to be, and the daily habits that drain life from that dream.

You will never know what you’re good at until you try.

Character is both developed and revealed by tests, and all of life is a test.

Humility is not thinking less of yourself; it is thinking of yourself less.

Those who will not take a chance seldom have one thrust upon them.

Fight defeat.

A positive mind finds a way it can be done. A negative mind looks for all the ways it can’t be done.
